PYC Family Camp

Held in August of each year
The PYC Family Camp will always be available to the entire camp community. One parent (at a minimum) from each family of the younger group members must be present for the entire duration of camp. This is so that the parent can witness the process of community for themselves and their children. However, all parents of any aged youth is encouraged to attend. Parents are the camps support system and the gifts/guidance that each of the parents offer is essential. The objective of the PYC Family Camp allows the individual to take additional steps necessary for further self-discovery in a safe environment witnessed by their family members and the larger community.
The mission statement of PYC Family Camp is:
- To help prepare our young people for their journey into adolescence and adulthood.
- Our team of parents and youth leaders helps members explore the fundamental questions of life by supporting them in fostering character, self-esteem, confidence, responsibility and integrity.
The program’s classroom is a natural setting , which allows participants to leave behind their everyday stresses, peer pressures and influences from media. In nature one can draw quiet inspiration and guidance.
The program incorporates many activities such as; hiking, climbing, cooperative games, music, dance, art and drama, which help guide participants to self-discovery. In these processes individuals’ feelings, values, goals, strengths are recognized and celebrated.
The quality of this experience leaves a lasting impression on participants. These impressions live in the heart and mind as memories that spark confidence and sustain authenticity through the challenging years ahead.
The camp is 6 days and will usually be held in a natural setting. The cost of the camp is separate from the cost of the yearly youth group and will hopefully be off set by fundraising moneys. |
